Who can apply?
Retirees
If you are fifty five or over, have retired, live in Caithness or North Sutherland, and plan to use some of your time for study, then we may be able to help you.
Ex-service
Fund trustees have recently extended support to veterans who have seen active service and who now wish to study through the Open University, University of the Highlands and Islands, or North Highland College UHI. This is in keeping with the spirit of the fund since Danny McLean saw active service throughout the Second World War in the Navy.
Veterans in this category should follow the same application process as other candidates, which can be done using the forms available on this website. Candidates shortlisted by the Trustees will be invited for interview.
Young musicians
If you are a senior student at one of Caithness or Sutherland's highschools and are studying or would like to study music then we may be able to help you with funding for equipment or tutoring. Either you, your parents, or teachers are welcome to get in touch with us for more information about how the Daniel McLean fund can help you.
How to apply
If you are interested in applying to the fund then please download the application form and complete all the sections in blue or black ink. For photocopying purposes black is preferable. If you require more space for any section then attach additional, clearly labelled sheets.
It is most important that the final section relating to the electronic storage of information should be read and signed. For any further help you can contact us by clicking here, and we will do our best to assist you.
There is no deadline for applications and requests will be considered at any time. Once your application has been considered a mutually convenient time will be arranged for to meet you in order to exchange of information. Feedback on the outcome will be given as soon as possible.
